When AB5 goes into effect on January 1, 2020, it could potentially reclassify hundreds of thousands of people working in the arts industries acting as independent contractors and dramatically reshape the future of independent workforces in California. It may have been targeted towards the ‘gig economy,’ but the effect on the arts in California could be significant.
