Be our next Arts Champion!

Submit your #CAArtsChampion Story

The goal of the campaign is to share the impact California artists, arts organizations, and arts institutions bring to California communities and to highlight the people who make this happen.

#CAArtsChampion Campaign Signals:

  • The strength of the arts community to connect and unify

  • The ways that the arts are a public value and essential investor in strengthening our communities

  • The strength of the arts to innovate and use creativity to find solutions to problems

Using one or more of the prompts below submit yourwritten response and photo or video:

 

Questions for Arts Organizations

  • Tell us a little bit about your program and how you developed it.

  • How does your program affect its neighborhood and the community at large?

  • What are you seeing right now as far as the COVID-19 impact on your program and the communities that you’re serving?

  • Why are these art organizations going to be important when we rebuild the economy?

  • Do you receive public funding from either the state or your local community?

  • If so, why is this necessary for your program?

Questions for Artists:

  • What is your medium? Describe your journey with it.

  • Was there a mentor, teacher, or art organization that helped you discover your creative abilities?

  • How has COVID-19 impacted your process and profession?

  • What do you feel is the role of the artist during a crisis?

  • How do you think artists can contribute to the post-COVID-19 revitalization?

  • Have you received a grant from a local arts agency or state or federal agency? If so, what does that funding enable you to do?

*GUIDELINES:

  • Video should be under 2 minutes and be recorded vertically.

  • End your video by saying:
    ”My name is _________, state your title or profession, and I am a California Arts Champion.” 

Submit your video here, share on your social media channels and pay it forward by tagging your #CAArtsChampion to make their own video. 

We are hoping this campaign spreads across Facebook and Instagram, but it only will if you tag your arts champion, tag us and submit to CFTA so we can collect all the videos. It is our hope you will widely incorporate #CAArtsChampion in your public relations to help raise awareness of the strength of the collective California Arts community and keep the Arts top of mind as we navigate through the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.
