Theatre Bay Area invites you to learn more about AB5, the new law that takes effect on January 1, 2020.
What is AB5?
AB5 changes the test used to determine whether a worker is an employee or an independent contractor. The intent of the bill is to extend to independent contractors the rights, benefits, and protections currently only available to employees. This law will have an impact on the arts sector, both companies, and individuals.
This town hall will inform and explore how the law will affect the arts. This will be the first in a series of town halls held throughout the Bay Area; more town halls in the North, South, and East Bay will be announced soon.
