Music in Place was established in April, 2020 by a core group of Music Educators – Music/Video Techies, Legal, Finance, and Business Professionals – who are also accomplished musicians – to provide assistance to our suddenly displaced and struggling Bay Area Musicians Community. Music in Place operates under the 501(C)(3) tax exempt status of the Sonoma County Philharmonic Orchestra. Our mission is to establish a visible and sustainable Bay Area Professional Musicians Network that stimulates opportunities for virtual collective creativity, collaboration, performance, and audiences – moving musical performance to the digital world.

We aim to:

  • Engage musicians, composers, production professionals, and the community.

  • Provide training and technical support – how to move from analog to digital performance venues.

  • Design and produce original music and video works.

  • Manage digital hosting and distribution on Websites and online platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Twitter, Instagram.

  • Create new models for generating financial support.

  • Award immediate grants to participating musicians to help them put food on the table.
