Forest Animal Fables During COVID-19 — Nancy Nyberg

I am a Teaching Artist in Dramatic Arts and Storytelling. I was mentoring elementary students in Ease Los Angeles with Forest Animal Fables until schools closed down in March 2020 due to COVID-19. I was elated when the opportunity ot continue via Zoom was offered. I adapted my classes so that these students could remain seated at home and we continued our exploration of Forest Animal Fables. Many of the students brought their stuffed animals along to our Zoom classes (even if they were not exactly Forest Animals). I enriched the classes with nature photos, poetry readings, songs about animals, seated pantomime and even created a new game “Paws of Claw (or Wings or Hooves).”
