The LA Regional COVID-19 Recovery Fund
eligibility
The LA Regional COVID-19 Recovery Fund is open to micro-entrepreneurs, small businesses, and non-profits that meet the below criteria:
micro-entrepreneurs
Micro-Entrepreneurs are eligible for $5,000 grants
Workers participating in the gig economy, street vendors, sole proprietors, independent contractors, 1099 workers, and/or single-member LLCs with revenues of less than $100,000 in the most recent available tax return (2018 or 2019).
Must have 2018 or 2019 tax return to verify revenue.
small businesses
small businesses are eligible for $15,000 grants
Registered for-profit business entities that have a yearly revenue of less than $1 million based on most recent available tax return (2018 or 2019).
Must have 2018 or 2019 tax return to verify revenue.
Must be certified in Good standing with the California Secretary of State.
non-profits
non-profits are eligible for $15,000 grants
Registered 501(C)(3) organizations that have annual revenue of less than $1 million based on most recent available 990 form (2018 or 2019).
Must provide supportive services to LMI individuals in LA County.
Must provide a filed 990 for 2018 or 2019 to verify revenue.
Must be certified in Good standing with the California Secretary of State.
Additional Requirements
All entities must have been created as of September 2019.
Small businesses must have filed taxes for the fiscal year 2018 or 2019 to verify that their revenue was $1,000,000 or less
Non-profits must have filed 990 forms for the fiscal year 2018 or 2019 to verify that their revenue was $1,000,000 or less.
Nonprofits must be able to provide tax status verification documentation.
Small businesses and non-profits must be able to provide a Certificate of Status certifying that the current status of the applicant is active/good standing from the California Secretary of State
Veteran-owned businesses will need to provide DD214 forms
All winners must provide a W9 form and bank account information.
All winners will be required to attend a 1 hour webinar on completing verification process to receive grant funds- Please note translators and/or in-language support for those winners who do not speak English as their primary language will be provided.
taking an equity lens to grant-making
Grant winners will be chosen through an online weighted lottery system. In order to support the most vulnerable in our communities, applicants that meet the following criteria will be weighted more heavily in the lottery system:
Entities located in or primarily serving low-to-moderate income (LMI) census tracts, as defined by HUD.
Veteran-owned small businesses
Small businesses and non-profits with less than $500,000 in yearly revenues
applications are available in 15 languages
Arabic Armenian Cantonese English
Mandarin Russian Spanish Tagalog
Farsi Hindi Japanese Khmer Korean
Thai Vietnamese
Translated applications will be available on july 6th.
