Join us in celebrating the 94th birthday and legacy of Cesar Chavez through a unique and artistic lens. During this FREE virtual event, attendees will be able to participate in workshops focusing on the power of words. Poetry and sign-painting workshops will be led by local San Jose artists. In the one-hour workshops, participants will learn how to use words as a source of power in both a visual and performative way.
Guest speaker Ron Muriera will be joining us to talk about the lesser known history, background and story of the partnership between Larry Itliong and the Filipino farmworkers with Cesar Chavez and the National Farm Workers Association.
The words we speak matter more than we may realize. As the world turns, we work to find our place in it. As we advance forward, we all find our footing. During this virtual gathering we hope you come away with a better understanding of just how powerful your words are, and how best to use them
This event is presented by the School of Arts and Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. Supported by the City of San José, Creative Ambassador Program, Office of Cultural Affairs.
