Public Mural Program by Mike Tauber
Public funding from the City of Fullerton provided a one-time public mural program that served three benefits:
1. It provided an educational after-school program for teens from 4 local high schools and service centers. The program ran 8-weeks and attracted 40-students, who created 5 billboard sized murals that are on permanent public view in Fullerton. The student interns learned design, drawing, and painting skills from professional artist-instructor Mike Tauber.
2. It resulted in 5 billboard sized murals that beautify a formerly blighted area (Edison Sub-Station Power Plant).
3. Murals depict the history of businesses that served the Fullerton community in mid-20th Century, thus creating a historical legacy and honoring local commerce.
